CAMPGROUNDS
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest covers 100 square miles of the 152 square mile Township
of Fifield. Within this area, are three National Forest campgrounds. Click the link for detailed
information and, if available, the on-line reservation feature through the Chequamegon-Nicolet
National Forest’s website.
Sailor Lake Recreation Area. This rustic campground sits on the northwestern shores of Sailor
Lake off Hwy. 70 east of Fifield. It features 25 sites that can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet and
features a parking spur, fire grills, picnic tables, vault toilets, drinking water, and tent pads. The
campground offers access to 170-acre Sailor Lake, access to the Flambeau ATV Trail, a beautiful
picnic area, and access to trails for off-road vehicles. Make a reservation.
Smith Rapids Recreation Area. On the South Fork of the Flambeau River off Hwy. 70 east of
Fifield, this campground features 10 campsites with 7 of them designed to accommodate
equestrians as they are equipped with tie stalls and trailer parking designed for horse camping.
Enjoy carry-in boat access, vaulted toilets, drinking water, a picnic area, horseback riding, hiking,
river fishing, and canoeing. A scenic attraction near the campground is the Smith Rapids Covered
Bridge. Make a reservation.
Twin Lakes Recreation Area. Located 21 miles east of Park Falls, amongst pines, evergreens, and
hardwoods, Twin Lakes Campground overlooks 19-acre Twin Lake. The campground features 17
campsites, a parking spur, campfire rings with grills, picnic tables, vaulted toilets, and drinking
water. Enjoy a boat ramp with access to Twin Lake, an accessible fishing pier at nearby Newman
Lake, and nearby hiking trails. Make a reservation.
Emily Lake Campground. Located off Forest Road 142 west of Lac du Flambeau. The campground
features 11 first-come campsites, a parking spur, campfire rings with grills, picnic tables, vaulted
toilets, and drinking water. Enjoy a boat ramp with access to 26 acre Emily Lake, swimming area,
paved boat launch, fishing, and nearby hiking trails.
Wabasso Lake Campground. This primitive campground is located off Forest Road 142 west of Lac
du Flambeau. The campground features 5 walk-in/canoe-in campsites equipped with fire grills and
picnic tables. Drinking water and toilets are located at the boat landing. Wabasso Lake is 49-acres
and is great for canoeing and fishing.
